Volunteering
Fundraising & Appeals
Each year we have two main fundraising activity’s being, ANZAC token selling and the Remembrance Day token selling. These generally begin approximately a week prior to the day of the event, and our volunteer sellers join a roster to man the five allocated selling stations in and around Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads shopping centres. Each selling period span is 2 hours beginning 9.00 am thru 3.00pm daily. Volunteers are also involved in the packaging, preparation and reloading of the stations during the selling period, any and all help is very much appreciated.
Veteran Support
Veteran support volunteers provide support and assistance to veterans and their families in a number of roles as listed.
:: Welfare Officers
:: Pension Officers
:: Aged Care Visits
:: Hospital & Home Visiting
:: Family Welfare
:: Other Veterans Support Activities
Most of these roles will of course, will require volunteers to undergo a National Police Check for Aged Care.
Roles such as Welfare Officers & Pension Officers require volunteers to undergo specialized accredited courses and training to carry out those roles. Ocean Grove Barwon Heads RSL sub-Branch fully supports these volunteers in achieving and maintaining that accreditation.
Commemorations Support
On both ANZAC Day & Remembrance Day it is important that the commemorations go as planned, and our volunteers are called on to assist in the coordination of all aspects of the day, it may also include involvement with local primary & secondary schools and also local community groups in the lead up to the commemoration event.
Our Sub-Branch recognises that education of the younger generation is an important part of the community role of the RSL Sub-branch. We are always seeking volunteers that may be specialised in education area.
Administrative Support
Administrative Support is important part in the smooth operation of the sub-branch, and volunteer roles may include the day to day running of our club. If you have some specialised qualifications or just have some spare time and would like to be involved in that role, then you would be most welcome.
